Data visualization application running on the multi-touch spherical display developed by Pufferfish. Ltd.
The ELiCIT lab hosted an inter-departmental open house event, to showcase the novel multi-touch spherical touchscreen technology, called PufferTouch! This 360-degree display enables users to interactively explore displayed content using natural touchscreen gestures, including tap, drag, zoom, and more. Currently, our lab is utilizing the spherical display for the ISGC-sponsored Geo-Data-On-Sphere project, led by UIC PIs Soni and Sit. Our team, comprised of UIC undergraduate and graduate students from the departments of Computer Science and Earth and Environmental Sciences, is focused on designing gesture-supported geo-data visualization applications for the multi-touch spherical display. Our goal is to enable Earth Science students to explore and understand the Earth's climate system in an more engaging way.
